How to Feel Unstuck in Your Early 20s
It is common to feel stuck in your early 20s, check out this advice on how to be more confident.
You hear everyone say that your 20s is a time to try everything, to find what you like, and have the time of your life. But what if you’re in your 20s and at a place where you just feel stuck? Stuck living at home, stuck with new expenses such as student loans, stuck in an entry level 9-5 job, stuck not being able to afford rent. I think today it is very common for us to feel these things. Maybe it is because of the COVID pandemic and losing years of normalcy, or maybe it is because we see people the same age as us online doing things we want to do, or having things we want to have.
As a 23 year old recently out of college and living at home it is easy to feel this way. So, what can we do? I believe that the feeling of being stuck can cause inaction. It makes it feel like we have to push an enormous weight or make a big a sacrifice to get started on something that can lead us to where we want to be. A good tactic might be planning time into our day to spend a little while on something that can point us where we want to go. Even if it is 20 minutes of job hunting, budgeting, journaling, being creative, or talking to a friend. If we push ourselves to add these little moments into a day, it can add up to much more. I also think it is important to spend time doing something that feels restful, as to not feel caved in by the overwhelm. Maybe things like ten minute yoga, reading, taking a nap, or going out with friends. It is important to recognize when you need a break and when you need to push yourself.
