It’s that time of year when you clock out of work and it’s dark outside. These tips will help you avoid the winter blues and provide lighting in your space.
When it gets dark around 4:30 p.m., you can feel a lack of energy. The darker months also lead to winter blues, craving warmer days were the sun doesn’t set till close to 9 p.m. So, what is the best way to combat this darkness? By being intentional about the lighting in our own homes.
Candles, Candles, Candles!
Candles scream fall and winter, providing a cozy, illuminating glow in the evenings. Having a scented candle adds an extra layer of cozy with an aroma that is appropriate for the season. When you sign off or get home from work, immediately lighting a candle can lift your spirits and help you relax even though it may be nighttime outside. You may even consider trying faux candles if you want a flameless option that has longevity. Change up the traditional scented candle for taper candles, which are stunning as part of a tablespace or fireplace mantel. I recently went to a wedding that had faux taper candles as the table centerpiece, and they were unexpectantly stunning.
Cozy Lamps For the Kitchen
It is becoming increasingly popular to place some sort of lamp in your kitchen on top of the counter. Positioning a small lamp against a backsplash looks darling in a kitchen, adding a warm subtle glow in the mornings and evenings. In addition, a small lamp would look stunning if you have some sort of coffee bar in your home. Something about waking up and brewing a warm cup of coffee in soft lighting sounds magical in the winter. I love Target for lamps, they have so many options at an affordable price, like this faux wood table lamp.
Bedroom Lighting
Cozy lighting is perfect for when you are winding down in the evening. There are so many options for lighting your bedroom. One of which are twinkle lights, which can be hung behind your bed or other spots around your room. Having a bedside table lamp that has warm toned lighting, or sconces are way better than turning on overhead lighting. Of course, candles are an excellent addition into your bedroom as well. Lastly, a salt lamp can be a calming addition to your sleeping space. This dimmable Himalayan salt lamp is one of my favorite elements in my room, and doubles as a nightlight.
